Man vs. Machine

Tonight is the final night of a three part exposition with the two best Jeopardy contestants of all time, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter vs. the fastest, most powerful gaming computer since Deep Blue defeated Garry Kasparov in 1997. The first two nights against Watson the both Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter didn’t stand a chance. Although the silly humans did put up some good numbers, there efforts futile compared to the awesome computing power of Watson. Tonight we find out if we find our answer…

“Watson’s ability to understand the meaning and context of human language, and rapidly process information to find precise answers to complex questions, holds enormous potential to transform how computers help people accomplish tasks in business and their personal lives. Watson will enable people to rapidly find specific answers to complex questions. The technology could be applied in areas such as healthcare, for accurately diagnosing patients, to improve online self-service help desks, to provide tourists and citizens with specific information regarding cities, prompt customer support via phone, and much more.” [IMB]

For some reason Skynet and Judgment day seem just a little closer…
