Lebron Launches “Air Force” Inspired Shoes…

HairyKnuckles October 10, 2011

How do YOU spell irony? At the moment, I spell it L E B R O N.

Nike has recently announced the release of a “military inspired” version of the new Lebron basketball shoe… made patriotically in… China.

So, let me get this straight: Nike is releasing a patriotic shoe that hardly resembles ANYTHING militaristic and is outsourcing its production to China, where Nike shoes are manufactured for pennies on the dollar? My head hurts, as does my American pride. Meanwhile, Lebron is considering a move to Europe as a result of the NBA lockout…

According to the Associated Press:

“The military-green theme is a nod to the Miami Heat having their first training camp since James joined the team last season at Hurlburt Field and Eglin Air Force Base.

Those installations in Florida’s Panhandle hosted the Heat for about a week, and players interacted with military personnel during that camp.

Nike says that edition of the shoe will be released first in South Florida starting at midnight Sunday “as a sign of appreciation and respect for LeBron’s South Florida fans and community.”

Personally, between acts like this, the Netflix fiasco (as reported by InTIMidator), and the general pussification of America, I am finding it harder to take pride in the fact that I am American… Ah, who am I kidding, AMERICA… FUCK YEAH!
