It’s International Star Wars Day May The Fourth Be With You
I know what you’re thinking, “There’s no way this is an actual day.” But it is! May 4th is International Star Wars Day, coining the phrase, “May The Fourth Be With You.”

There are several different opinions on the actual origin of Star Wars Day including, my favorite off the wall origin, when Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s first female Prime Minister, placed an advertisement in The London Evening News that said “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie. Congratulations.” This was way back on May 4, 1979, and apparently, is in print. Obscure and funny, I like it. I’m sticking with.

In the spirit of this fan-driven holiday, we’ve gathered a list of cool and creative ways to express your love for your favorite movie saga and celebrate, “International Star Wars Day!”

  1. Send Some E-Cards
If you have someone in your life that is also a Star Wars fan, remind them that today is a special day and send them an E-card! StarWars.com has some cool ones: Click here
  2. Have a Star Wars marathon
Hunker down, pop in the Blu-Ray, and enjoy 15 hours of Star Wars epic-ness. If you don’t have a Blu-Ray copy yet, it’s ok, you can make do with the VHS copies your dad gave you, but for Yoda’s sake get it on Blu-Ray! You can get the whole saga right here: Amazon.com
  3. Get a Girl Using a Corny Star Wars Pickup Line
[Warning] This absolutely will not work, but might count as an ice breaker. Dorkly.com does have a few good Star Wars Pickup Lines  including, “I find you lack of nudity disturbing…” and “I feel a great disturbance… in my pants.” Good luck with this one, let me know if it works!
  4. Bust Out The Star Wars Gear
It’s casual Friday anyway. Wear your favorite geeky Star Wars t-shirt with pride and don’t forget to say “May The Fourth Be With You,” to everyone you meet!

Happy International Star Wars Day!
