Back in 2004, actor Thomas Jane starred as Frank Castle, in a less then well received version of The Punisher. The movie cost about $33 million to make (as a comparison, new Avengers movie cost around $220 million to make) and only generated about $55 million worldwide… Not really a “bomb,” but not enough to facilitate a sequel or a remake. But, much to everyone’s surprise, Thomas Jane debuted an unofficial Punisher short film simply titled ‘#DIRTYLAUNDRY at the San Diego Comic-Con.
I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it. - Thomas Jane, San Diego Comic-Con
