Melky Cabrera

So the Melky Cabrera saga continues…Today ESPN analyst Rick Sutcliffe (Former Cy Young winner) expressed his feelings on the Cabrera issue by stating:

“This guy is over here in the United states on a working visa.  He broke the law.  Uh, what’s he doing still here?”

If you are unfamiliar with this particular story, San Francisco’s outfielder and All Star MVP, Melky Cabrera, was suspended for 50 games for violating the league’s anti-drug policy.  Upon full investigation after Cabrera tested positive for testosterone, the MLB uncovered a scheme involving and associate of Cabrera’s agent company, ACES inc.

Juan Nunez was implicated with Cabrera for developing a fake website to try and prove to the league that he was given false information about the substance he was taking.  Although ACES inc seems to be left alone, the $10,000 consultant fee paid to Nunez pretty much says it all. Once this scheme was uncovered and the positive test evidence was unchallengeable,  Cabrera finally admitted to the use and was suspended for 50 games.

Earlier today Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig announced that Nunez has been banned from all MLB ballparks.

Opinion time: So I’m just going to say it…I am a DIE HARD SF Giants fan.  As a fan I am devastated by Melky’s lack of dedication, respect and flat out common sense.  Not only did he hurt the team by his actions, he hurt baseball the same way all of the recent (Well since 2005) events from Will Clark, Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds fiasco to the John Rocker “how to take ‘roids” admission.  I agree with Sutcliffe and Commissioner Selig. Get Melky back to his own country and Nunez should be banned for life from all sports in the US.  Enough is enough.  The mass population of baseball players plays with the gifts they were given and do it pretty darn well.  Why can’t you?

Let us know what you think….
