Before you watch the video: I know what you’re thinking. This is gag, or a spoof film and there’s something silly at the end. But there’s not. This is real invention that has venture funding. They just kind of use the term “invisible” loosely. Just stay with the video tell the end and you’ll know what I mean…
The video was made by Swedish film maker and journalist, Fredrik Gertten and profiles two idealistic young female entrepreneurs who created a revolutionary 21st-century design object everyone told them would be impossible to fashion, an “Invisible Bicycle Helmet.” The short film is part of GE innovation competition called “Focus Forward Films.”
Where idealist and entrepreneurs compete for global exposure and $200,000 in prize money to help fund their ideas.
The idea in video does makes sense, and the video makes you believe that it might actually work. The product is just an airbag for your head, that probably has an accelerometer hooked into it. But… I still don’t know if I would wear that over a regular helmet… not that I often wear one to begin with.
What do you guys think, would wear one of these helmets? Let me know in the comments!
